A Course in Miracles is a modern spiritual self-study program that consists of a Workbook, Text and Teacher Manual. It was channeled by Helen Schucman and edited by Kenneth Wapnick. It was originally published in 1976.

Although the Course uses Christian terminology, it teaches that the world and everything in it is an illusion. This is a direct contradiction to the teachings of Jesus Christ.

It is not the Bible

A Course in Miracles (ACIM) is a spiritual self-study program that has become a major influence on people who think of themselves as “spiritual but not religious.” The course includes a workbook of 365 lessons, a text detailing its core philosophy, and a manual for teachers. Although ACIM is considered a New Age text, it is based on an ancient spiritual principle known as non-dualistic metaphysics. Unlike the other major religions and spirituality thought systems, ACIM rejects a belief in a personal god, instead, it considers all of humanity to be part of a universal God.

A Course in Miracles is often classified as Christian, but it is actually a mixture of Eastern and Judeo-Christian philosophies. She claimed that the writings were scribed between 1965 and 1972 through a process of inner dictation by an entity she identified as Jesus. After her death, the Foundation for A Course in Miracles was established and holds the copyright on the work.

The Course teaches that a human being’s problems are the result of believing they are separate from God. It states that these beliefs are the source of guilt and conflict, but it also teaches that all of these problems can be resolved by practicing forgiveness. It is not a religion

Its message is very similar to the Hindu concept of maya, or illusion. It denies all suffering, even death. It says that life exists only in Heaven, and that everything in this world is illusory. It also states that Jesus never suffered or died on the cross. Its version of the resurrection is that God was reunited with His son, and that this reunion is what gives our lives their significance.

A Course in Miracles also combines elements of New Age thinking with Christian symbolism. It uses the person Jesus as a metaphor for Love, or the God that is its teacher. Its teachings also use the sun, moon, and finger to illustrate the relationship between God and the world.

It is not a spirituality

There is a growing number of people who are looking for spiritual guidance. Unfortunately, many are getting drawn into the do-it-yourself world of A Course in Miracles (ACIM). The Course claims to have been given by Jesus and is now gaining acceptance in some Christian churches. While this new occultism may seem harmless, it can actually be dangerous. It can even lead to spiritual warfare. The story of Joy Smith, for instance, is a perfect example.

The Course is a set of books containing a 669-page Text, a 466-page Workbook with 365 daily lessons, and a 92-page Manual for Teachers. It was supposedly written by an "inner voice" in the form of rapid inner dictation and edited by three clinical psychologists. It was published in 1976, and within a decade it had spread to thousands of study-circles around the United States and the world.

A key aspect of the Course is its theory that the physical world is an illusion. It is the result of a mistaken belief that we are separate from God.
